Synergy One and Sequoia Partner for the Community

On Monday September 15, 2008, Synergy One Federal Credit Union and Sequoia Management hosted an American Red Cross Blood Drive at the Synergy One FCU headquarters in Manassas, VA. Between Synergy One and Sequoia, employees were able to save fifty-one lives by donating blood to the American Red Cross.

Synergy One continues to teach high school students about the real cost of living in Prince William County with their simulation game, "Making it Real." The next scheduled events for 2008 will be held at: The House (Student Leadership Center) on Thursday, September 25th from 4:00PM – 6:00PM Forest Park High School on Tuesday, October 7th and Wednesday, October 8th from 8:00AM – 10:00AM each day Osbourn Park High School on Monday, October 27th from 8:00AM – 10:30AM

Manassas-based Synergy One Federal Credit Union has won 2nd place honors in the Desjardins Youth Financial Education Awards for credit unions. The Desjardins Awards, sponsored by the Virginia Credit Union League and the Credit Union National Association, honor credit unions for their commitment to teaching personal finance basics to young people.

At the March of Dimes Wrap-up event on August 14, 2008, Synergy One Federal Credit Union (Synergy One) took home several honors including Top Fundraising Team in Prince William County – raising over $18,000.00. Synergy One also was recognized as the tenth top team in the March of Dimes National Capital Area Chapter which consists of Maryland, Washington, D.C. and Northern Virginia.

Students Get a Taste of the Real World

Synergy One Federal Credit Union begins its third season of "Making It Real" events. "Making It Real" is the high-school level 'Real World' simulation game. Students learn what it takes to live and be financial stable in Prince William County. The first two events are scheduled at Manassas Park High School on Thursday, April 17th and Freedom High School (Woodbridge) on Friday, April 25th.

Synergy One Federal Credit Union was proud to hold a ‘Christmas Cleaning Supply Drive’ to help benefit S.E.R.V.E., Inc. Synergy One FCU employees were able to donate paper towels, cleaning supplies, blankets, bed sheets, baby food and diapers to help the residents at the S.E.R.V.E. Shelter for the winter season.

Educator of the Year Award (Awarded to Sally Martin of Brentsville District High School for the Tiger Branch Partnership) 3. Desjardin Youth Financial Education Award Synergy One was also honored by the Prince William County - Greater Manassas Chamber of Commerce as the Business Partnership of the year award for their partnership with Brentsville District High School of the Prince William County Public School system.
